Psychologists say that coronavirus has a big impact on mental health. Just as epidemic conditions are creating new patients, so are the complications of older patients.

Professor, Nilu Jahan of the National Institute of Mental Health said that they are now getting more patients who already had some mental problem.

The doctor believes that the coronavirus epidemic is affecting most of the new and old patients who come with mental problems.

“I did not find any problem by asking various questions. There is no unrest in the family, there is no economic tension. But it is taking time for them to get better. Especially for those who suffer from depression, the number is higher now. ”

Highlighting the issue of stress or stress behind such problems, Professor Nilu said that one of the worries of Covid-19 is working with people.

Nilu said that they are also getting mental problems after recovering from Covid19.

Educational institutions in the country were closed for about a year and a half due to the increase in coronavirus infection. Although the school-college classes started on September 12, it has not become regular yet. Direct teaching is closed in many universities.

The psychologist said that the students are coming with more mental problems like depression, anxiety, and depression.

Mahmud, president of the Psychology Society, thinks many are under pressure to be aware of the fear of coronavirus and to protect themselves from it. Suffering after being infected is also increasing stress.

Explaining the various negative effects of the coronavirus epidemic on mental health, he said that now mental problems have increased more than before. It has also appeared in some studies.

“Income inequality needs to be eliminated. The basic rights of the citizens must be ensured. Must have job security. Unemployment must be eliminated. The guarantee of survival and well-being must come first. ”

Psychologist Mahmud said, “People need to be employed productively to curb crime and increase preventive measures. People should not think of suicide.

He is advising to create a happy environment by thinking about the solution without looking at the problem to stay mentally healthy. He says to engage in recreational activities like singing, movies, reading books, or gardening.

He also urged everyone to be empathetic, to think positively, and not to despise anyone, in order not to increase stress and despair as well as to keep others healthy.

“However, these suggestions may not be effective for everyone. In that case, we have to see how complicated the problem is, ”said Mahmud.

Psychiatrist Nilu said the problem was getting worse in the country due to the lack of proper treatment for mental illness at the right time.

Emphasizing taking time in life, the psychologist said, “7–8 hours of sleep a day, 7–8 hours of professional work, rest of the time rest, entertainment, social work, looking for relatives — these should be included in the daily routine.
